Handmade Wooden Buttons by Tom Dyson
Tom Dyson is a woodworker located in The New Forest of the UK. He calls each card of his handmade buttons "siblings" because they are made from the same piece of wood.
From Tom:
"The method used to create these buttons is primarily woodturning on my lathe, however, there are a number of additional steps all requiring precision and hands-on care, from drilling the button holes to hand applying the Danish oil finish to each button. This creates a beautiful and durable finish that will not crack, chip, or flake."
Each button is hand stitched onto their fully recyclable packaging, again made by me. These buttons are suitable for dry cleaning or a cool hand wash.
These buttons, with their subtle & beautiful variations, are the finest finishing touch to your hand knits. They can be washed with your hand knits in cold water.
Laburnum: "The wood used for these buttons comes from a Laburnum Tree taken from a private garden due to it becoming unsafe. I acquired this tree directly from the tree surgeon and have processed the timber from raw logs through the air drying process into the buttons you order today."
Oak: "The wood used for these buttons comes from my local timber supplier, I take that timber and individually craft each button. These are not rustic buttons, they are accurate to the size I list them as and each one is a beautiful piece of art."
Purple Heart: "The wood used for these buttons comes from a long established UK sawmill called Yandles."
Yew: "Yew is a fantastic English wood. Its what we used to make the Longbow its has beautiful warm orange like tones."
Xylia: Also know as "ironwood" it is a hard tropical wood, often used for ship building.
